Search for Best Practices in Inclusive Recreation

In a recent research article published in the Spring 2009 Journal of Park and Recreation Administration on best practices in inclusive recreation, Miami-Dade County was named as one of fifteen agencies nationwide demonstrating "exemplary inclusive service delivery"! The article highlights best practices at the administrative level that result in inclusive and substainable community recreation programs. Administrative components critical to the agencies success for inclusive service delivery included agency missions that were welcoming and embraced throughout the agency; adequate budgetary commitments to physical and programmatic access; providing an on-site inclusion facilitator to provide technical assitance through the agency; and collaborative efforts across administrators, programmers, families and cosumers themselves.
