This 90 minute, introductory workshop is appropriate for all children’s services providers (including administrators, supervisors, and direct care staff). Participants learn to distinguish between and among broad categories of disabilities, define the benefits of inclusion, use “People First” language and practice respectful etiquette, and identify the responsibilities of providers under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The Dade Community Foundation is among 3 Florida foundations receiving funds from the Iraq-Afghanistan Deployment Impact Fund (IADIF). CCDH is among the local not-for-profit organizations with which it is contracting to assist military personnel and their families.
CCDH was selected to provide services to BRAIVE eligible families who have sons and daughters with developmental and other disabilities. What makes this grant truly special is that funds are available to purchase whatever services or assistance the child or family needs.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR ASSISTANCE?

Military personnel and the family members of military personnel who served or are serving in Afghanistan or Iraq.
-
Families of military personnel deployed, or preparing for deployment to Afghanistan or Iraq within 120 days.

Families of military personnel killed in action during deployment to or training in Afghanistan or Iraq.
-
Military personnel recently returning from deployment to Afghanistan or Iraq, and their families.

Military personnel injured as a result of deployment to Afghanistan or Iraq, and their families.
